It was at the initiative of “Les Amis de La Martinerie” that 6 associations and organizations from the Indre department were gathered to commemorate, through an exhibition, the 110th anniversary of the beginning of World War I.
This exhibition, scheduled in the Barbillat Touraine room on November 9, 10 and 11, 2024, with the support of Châteauroux Métropole, will be entitled "The Great War in the Indre department".
The 3rd preparatory meeting was held on Tuesday March 26, in the meeting room of “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”, in the presence of representatives of the "Poilus Berrichons", the "Magenta" which takes up the traditions of the 90th Infantry Regiment, "the Genealogical Society of Bas Berry", "Romain Guignard association", the “Châteauroux Métropole du Souvenir Français” committee, the Châteauroux Métropole archives, and of course the “Les Amis de La Martinerie”. One or two organizations and/or associations should join the organizers of this event.
This exhibition will also commemorate the presence of American troops in the Indre department between 1917 and 1919.
A lot of ideas that each association will refine before our next meeting on Tuesday April 23.
