Continuing their activities, “Les Amis de La Martinerie” have set up their exhibition on the barracks of the Indre departments at MARPA (Maison d’Accueil et de Résidence Pour l’Autonomie, a local retirement home) in Saint-Août, from Monday, January 12th to Sunday, January 18th, 2026.
This exhibition has been enhanced with three new panels: two recalling the American period (Brassioux and the 410 housing complex – Touvent), and a third commemorating the presence of the French 2nd Armored Division in the Indre department in March 1945. It is worth noting that two classes from the Saint-Août primary school attended the opening, fostering a friendly intergenerational exchange between the children and the MARPA residents.
The opening ceremony was attended by Michelle SELLERON and François DAUGERON, Departmental Councillors, Jean-Pierre NICOLLET, Mayor of Saint-Août, Solange GUERINEAU, President of the La Châtre branch of the Legion of Honor, and Colonel (ret.) Michel LAURENT.
Thank you to our partners, the Centre-Val de Loire Regional Council, the Indre Departmental Council (36), Caisse d'Epargne Loire-Centre, the Indre Section of the Members of the Legion of Honor, and the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War, without whom everything would be much more difficult to organize.
Thank you to Mrs. Selleron, president of MARPA, for her welcome and responsiveness, to the municipality for providing their resources, to the teachers of the Saint-Août school for their presence, to the MARPA staff for their availability and kindness, and to Dominique, Jean-Jacques, Patrick, and Roland, our volunteers.
