Two Americans at La Martinerie

At the request of Marc and Annie Dufond, “Les Amis de La Martinerie” welcomed on Wednesday, December 19, 2021, Susie and Lee Blankenship from Salinas, California.

Long time friends through the Levroux Boischaut Champagne Rotary club, Marc and Annie Dufond, along with their daughters and grand daughters were showing them the beauty and historic sites of the Berry province, which included a visit of the “maison départementale de la mémoire”.

Welcomed by Roland de Vassoigne, Susie and Lee Blankenship learned about the presence of US forces at La Martinerie, in Montierchaume/Diors and in Issoudun between 1917 and 1919, and, of course, in Châteauroux/Déols/La Martinerie between 1952 and 1967.

Thank you, Pauline and Mélanie for the translation during the visit.

Thank you, Susie and Lee, for the few lines left on our guest book.

Thank you for this excellent documentation of US military forces in Chateauroux. It is very impressive and a testament to the documentation by dedicated volunteers. We salute the continuing friendship between the United Stetes and our French friends
