La Martinerie

Just a few days before May 8th, and at the initiative of Marie, our association’s Donation Management Officer (who also happens to be a special education teacher), we welcomed a group of around thirty children from the La Pingaudière leisure center in the city of Châteauroux.

Working closely with Souad, a youth leader at the center, we designed this visit specifically for children aged 6 and 7. It was a delightful challenge for our volunteers to take on!

Philippe adapted his workshop on "Objects Through the Ages", spanning the era of our grandparents right up to the present day. On the day's agenda: coffee grinders, typewriters, still and video cameras, irons, and more... wonderful discoveries for the little ones.

Clémence led them on a tour of a large portion of our exhibition rooms, using a scavenger hunt format: one room, one object to discover!

Marie presented the evolution of military aircraft and vehicles, tracing their history from World War I to the present day. Each child went home with their very own colored-in Spitfire or Alpha Jet!

It was a delightful afternoon, filled with energetic children who asked plenty of questions, as well as enthusiastic supervisors who were thoroughly charmed by the activities.

A big thank you to Clémence, Marie, and Philippe, our dedicated volunteers, who left feeling happy and proud of the success of this event.

We can assure you: here at La Martinerie, the "duty of remembrance" is not merely a figure of speech, it is a living reality.
